Welcome to the Kintore Pipe Band’s long overdue new website.
It is more user-friendly, which enables us to keep the site up to date on a regular basis with news items, photographs and important information for members and friends of the band.
This new web site coincides with the bands 90th Anniversary year which promises to be exciting for the band with a lot of special events planned throughout the year, more details under news and special events.
The Kintore Pipe Band is in an extremely healthy position right now with 25 Pipers,15 Drummers, and two Drum Majors, with members coming from all walks of life. As with many bands there are strong family ties within Kintore and it is not uncommon for brothers, sisters, mums, daughters, fathers, sons and wives to be playing side by side as well as a few characters who play their part and make the social aspect of the band great fun.
The band’s home town is in the Royal Burgh of Kintore in Aberdeenshire, 15 Miles north of Aberdeen on the A96, which has led to suggestions that we should be known as the Royal Kintore Pipe Band.
The band enjoys playing throughout the season at locations throughout the North and North-east of Scotland at fairs, gala’s, weddings, and Highland games. The band has also made several trips abroad and plans a trip to Germany in 2012
Kintore Pipe Band are one of the few bands which has survived and entertained continuously since Isaac Ogg the first Pipe Major Founded the band pre 1921 which makes us one of the oldest continuous operating Pipe band in RSPBA North of Scotland Branch, more on this under the history of the band.
