Hot off the press...

  • The 2007 Annual General Meeting was well attended. The meeting was constructive and positive with the Band in a healthy position for the future. Look out for new socks and maybe some waistcoats in the near future.
  • Congratulations to band member Laura who gave birth to baby girl Nicole Beth in August.

Annual Stovie Dance...

The band's annual Stovie Dance will be taking place on March the 1st 2008 in Blackburn Hall.   All are welcome!

Previous evenings have commenced with a round of Irish Bingo, followed by hours of fabulous traditional dance music. This year the ceilidh music will be provided by Country Edition . A raffle with oodles of prizes is held later on.  Stovies (including a vegetarian version) are served for supper and a full bar is available throughout the evening.

Tickets will be available nearer the time from any band member or can be booked through the band secretary Mrs Rosie Youngson via email kintorepipeband@gmail.com or phone 01224-743209. (Note that the dance is so popular that tickets are rarely available at the door.  Therefore please book to avoid disappointment.)  See you there!

Still to come.....

Friday November the 30th - Cockers Roses

The 2007 season so far.....

Saturday May the 5th - Caravan Club at Castle Fraser

The season kicked off at a rally celebrating the centenary year of the Caravan Club and the Scottish Caravan's 57th National Rally at Castle Fraser.

Sunday May the 20th - BA Stores at Lyne of Skene

This is now a regular event on the Band's calendar and a large crowd turned out for this charity event. The Scottish summer time was reluctant to make an early appearance and all whom attended had to contend with lashing rain and hailstones!! Spirits were kept high by a crate of larger and juice provided by the organisers.

Saturday June the 16th - Oldmeldrum Sports

Another regular event on the circuit witnesses the band travel to the small town of Oldmeldrum. A less than capacity crowd showed up for the event due to the dreich weather conditions. Kintore joined Inverurie, Turriff, Lonach, Huntly and Oldmeldrum pipe bands for the Massed Bands around the arena. The bands thought they were being let off lightly when the drum major pulled the massed bands out of the arena after going round once.....that was until an irate secretary made us come back on so the presentations could be made. Good fun was had by all despite the weather.

Saturday June the 23rd - Steam Engine Vintage Rally

Another damp day saw Steam Engines and Vintage Tractors converge on the grounds of Castle Fraser. The rain stayed off for most of the day but one heavy downpour towards the end saw a mad dash for cover (the beer tent).

Saturday June the 30th - Maryculter House

The first engagement of what should have been a very busy weekend for the band was a surprise wedding. The band tuned up in a lay-by on the otherside of the River Dee and then hid in waiting at the hotel car park. When the all clear was given the band struck up and marched into the court yard which went down a treat with the guests.

The band would have then made their way to Banchory for the Tartan Celebration except the poor weather meant that the event was cancelled.

Sunday July the 1st - New Byth Rally

A waterlogged ground resulted in this engagement being cancelled also........pattern emerging?

Saturday July the 7th - Forres Highland Games

A poor weather report for this weekend was forecast and the organisers must have been worried. The games however enjoyed fine weather and a big turn out from the band ensured fun was had by all. The band played in the arena, joined in the massed pipe bands around the arena and through the town.

Saturday July the 14th - Echt Games

Due to the extreme sunshine and bone dry ground conditions at Echt the games were cancelled ( actually cancelled the day before during awful weather conditions and the ground propbably was waterlogged on the Saturday).

Saturday July the 28th - Dufftown Games

Saturday August the 18th - Rhynie Gala

Saturday August the 25th - Daviot Fun Day

A small contingent turned out for the first ever Daviot Fun Day. The crowd were appreciative of the six pipers that turned out and even more appreciative of the fact that the rain stayed off.

Sunday August the 26th - Braemar Square

Saturday September the 1st - Braemar Gathering

An early start to the day as the band bus picked up members on route and headed west along Deeside and deep into the mountains..... First up was a bacon roll and cup o' coffee in the Fyfe Arms before tuning up. The band then went on to play in the arena, at the overseas tent and joined in the many massed bands, including one for Her Majesty the Queen. There was plenty of singing (and huggies) on the bus on the way home with a stop at Banchory's British Legion for a fine meal and a wee dance.

Saturday September the 15th - Monymusk Cartie Race

Tuesday September the 25th - Thainstone House
